Say ‘NO’ to Google PageRank

PageRank is Google’s way of giving a page on the Internet a score between zero and ten depending on the number of other relevant and important websites linking to it.

Many WebMasters incorrectly believe that PageRank is a measure of how well a website ranks.  This theory is far from the truth as many websites with a low PageRank rank higher than other websites with a higher PageRank.

Dean Hunt has recently started a PageRank exercise.  There you will find a growing list of other WebMasters who are tired of people dicsussing PageRank.

It’s all about building links from other websites which helps your website become more popular.

If you have a website or blog, follow the instructions below and join in the fun:

Step 1: Highlight the links below, right click, then click
“View selection source”
Step 2: Paste the “Say No To Pagerank” list into your blog or site
Step 3: email me at: contact@deanhunt.com
Step 4: Get a mention and link here at DeanHunt.com and every other
site that plays the game
Step 5: Update your list daily to reflect the new websites and blogs
that join in

Is my Website working for me?

Unlike normal advertising, you can set up tracking software to enable you to see how many visitors your website is getting and what keywords/phrases they are typing into the the search engines to find you. You can’t do that with a newspaper ad!

How about offering your website visitors an incentive in the way of a unique discount/voucher code if they then buy from you in store.

Why do I need a Website?

There are quite a few reasons why you should consider having a website.

Websites exist for all different types of business sectors, so the chances are that your competitors already have a website and are therefore taking business away from you!

If your website is optimised correctly, the Internet can be one of the most cost effective ways of advertising.

For the cost of a simple brochure style website (3 or 4 pages) you can advertise online 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

You don’t have to sell your products via your website but it is an important step to show exisiting and potential customers about you and the services you offer. If you do want to sell your products online via your website then you are opening your business up to a whole new area of customers. Your online shop doesn’t open at 9:00 and close at 5:30, it’s always open.

People are searching the Internet more and more when they are looking for products and services so why shouldn’t it be your website they find first ??

Welcome

Welcome to ClickOn’s brand new blog.

For the past 18 months ClickOn Web Design has been running from a small home office based in Sudbury Suffolk.

From the 1st of July 2007 we will be moving into the South Suffolk Business Centre (also based in Sudbury Suffolk).

What does this mean for our clients? … well, a more professional company profile and  it shows new and existing clients that we intend to stay in business and are not going to fade away and never be contactable like some home businesses.

Over the next few weeks you will see this blog grow. It will include various posts about website design in general, tips, search engine optimisation and will hopefully become a local source of information to help you make your new or existing website work for you, after all, there is little point having a website if nobody can find it !!

Kind regards

Jason
